wireless debugging just became the default path again. android's adb wifi 2.0, out september 9, replaces the old server stack with smarter network handling.
the usb cable finally left the room.
Context
The Android Developers Blog post of September 9, 2026 introduces ADB Wi-Fi 2.0 for wireless debugging. It describes a new mDNS stack in adb replacing both Bonjour and legacy mDNS, adbd turning ADB Wi-Fi off on an untrusted network and re-enabling it on a user-allowed one, and Android Studio Device Manager discovery. It reports, as Google's figures, auto-connection success rates improved by 32 percent and connection speeds by 66 percent for 90 percent of connections. It states requirements of Android 17, SDK Platform-Tools 37.0.0 and Android Studio Quail 3 or later.
Setup is opt-in, by enabling Wireless debugging in Developer Options and pairing in Device Manager with a QR or pairing code, so the default path is not supported by the sources. The 32 and 66 percent figures are vendor-reported with no method stated. This is an upgrade to existing wireless debugging and not a new tool. Again and the usb cable finally left the room are the author's framing.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
