the rag framework just made retrieval an agent's job. ragflow 0.27.2, out september 10, refactors agentic rag and stabilizes a raptor mode that keeps hierarchy from losing semantics.

retrieval stopped being a lookup.

Context

RAGFlow's v0.27.2 release notes say it was released on Sep 10, 2026. Among new features, the notes say Agentic RAG was refactored, which the notes say significantly improves reasoning speed and benchmark performance, and the 0.27 entry lists four thinking modes: Low, Medium, High and Ultra. The same page carries an older entry saying RAPTOR's AHC mode, introduced in v0.25.3, was stabilized by building individual document trees and merging them hierarchically, and an earlier entry saying GraphRAG and RAPTOR were deprecated in the UI in favour of Knowledge Compilation.

How it compares

The improvement from the refactor is the vendor's claim with no numbers in that line. The RAPTOR stabilization appears under an older release entry and not under v0.27.2's list, so the note's pairing of it with 0.27.2 is partly misattributed, and the page mixes existing and new features. The release line gives no mechanism detail, so retrieval an agent's job and retrieval stopped being a lookup are the author's framing.

  • Benchmark numbers for the refactor.
