the open source observability stack just hit 1.0 with the enterprise checklist done. openobserve 1.0, out september 11, adds ai observability, composite alerts and open source synthetics.

what vendors sell as premium tiers is now the default.

Context

OpenObserve's release page for v1.0.0, dated Friday, September 11, 2026, says it is generally available for self-hosted deployments and on OpenObserve Cloud. It lists AI Observability v1.0 with annotation queues, datasets, experiment workflows and a Playground, composite alerts, an alert library, SLO burn-rate alerts and Database Monitoring. It says Synthetic Monitoring, previously Cloud-only, is now open source.

How it compares

The note's open source synthetics matches the release page. The enterprise checklist done and what vendors sell as premium tiers is now the default are the author's framing, and no checklist or comparison against other vendors was inspected. Licence terms for the newly open synthetics were not read.
