the next .net is already go-live. .net 11 rc1, out september 15, compiles string interpolation to string.concat and claims go-live support.

the runtime stopped pretending release candidates aren't production.

Context

The .NET Blog post for .NET 11 RC1 is dated September 8th, 2026, and a release-notes listing shows 11.0.0-rc.1 on 2026/09/08. The post says the release candidate comes with a go-live support license for production applications. InfoQ's article of September 15, 2026 says string interpolation now compiles to String.Concat instead of the reflection-based printf engine, making it work with trimming and Native AOT, in its F# section, and the .NET blog lists efficient interpolated strings under F# highlights. The post also lists C# 15 stabilizing unions.

How it compares

The release is dated September 8 and the September 15 date belongs to the InfoQ article. This is a release candidate with a go-live license and not general availability. The String.Concat change is an F# 11 item and the note does not say F#, and no such claim for C# was found, so it should not be read as a general C# change. Release candidates carrying go-live licenses is a long-running .NET practice that was not researched, and the runtime stopped pretending release candidates aren't production is the author's take.
