the ai security stack just got a neutral home. the open secure ai alliance, founded by nvidia and dozens of enterprise leaders, moved into the linux foundation on september 14 to build open tools and shared defenses for ai systems.
the ones selling ai security are finally giving up control of the standard.
Context
The Linux Foundation's release of September 14, 2026 says the Open Secure AI Alliance has joined the Linux Foundation, as a neutral home for organizations across AI, cybersecurity and open source to build and share an open defensive stack for securing software and AI agents. It says it was originally founded by dozens of enterprise leaders and NVIDIA, and names two goals, building an open defensive stack for AI and strengthening collective defense by letting organizations test systems, share evidence and turn discoveries into protections. One core initiative is the Shared AI Findings Exchange (SAFE), intended to confidentially collect and analyze findings.
SAFE and the shared defenses are described as intended programs, and no shipped tools were listed in the passages read, so this is not proof of delivered defenses. Two listings dated September 2 and 3 suggest the move was reported earlier, and whether September 14 is the effective date or the formal announcement was not settled. The alliance's charter and governance document were not located. Another passage says it was established by NVIDIA with members including the Linux Foundation.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
