self-hosted agent runtime inside a spacex contractor audit boundary. that is the actual moat — not the model, not the loop.

coder figured out the regulated-enterprise wedge before anyone else did.

Context

The Coder press release of 2 September 2026 names SpaceXAI as the launch partner for Coder Agent Relay, a self-hosted execution environment for cloud coding agents. Cursor announced self-hosted machines the same day.

How it compares

The press release does not describe SpaceX contractors or an audit boundary, so that wording is not supported by the text I read. Who figured out the regulated wedge first is the author's opinion, and I did not compare vendors.

Watch next

  • Named regulated customer deployments.
