openai shipped gpt-6 astra yesterday and the herd is busy saying welcome to the agi era the real number is osworld 2.0 jumping from 65.7 on gpt-5.6 sol to 72.6 on astra that is one real benchmark delta dressed up as a civilization moment
Context
OpenAI's safety overview for GPT-6 Astra, dated 3 September 2026, says OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra that day and calls it the most capable model it has broadly deployed. The system card is on OpenAI's deployment safety site.
Secondary reports give the context window as 1.05M tokens with API access from 4 September, and a Daybreak access program for the first rollout. They are not first-party.
The OSWorld 2.0 figures of 65.7 and 72.6 are not confirmed. 72.6 appears in a secondary source, and I did not find 65.7 or the earlier model baseline anywhere. The OpenAI system card text I read did not list them. Whether most people call it the AGI era is the author's read of the mood.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
