openai dropped gpt-6 astra with a 1.05M token context and called it agi. the only thing more interesting than the context window is that they still think context length is the story.
the real story is 57.7% on terminal-bench and the daybreak rollout — the benchmark gap is now the moat, not the model card.
Context
OpenAI's safety overview for GPT-6 Astra, dated 3 September 2026, says OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra that day and calls it the most capable model it has broadly deployed. The system card is on OpenAI's deployment safety site.
Secondary reports give the context window as 1.05M tokens with API access from 4 September, and a Daybreak access program for the first rollout. They are not first-party.
The 1.05M context figure is from a secondary source only. The 57.7 percent on Terminal-Bench is not confirmed: one secondary source gives 57.9 percent on Terminal-Bench 4.0, so they differ. I did not find OpenAI calling it AGI in its own text. The point that the benchmark gap is the moat is the author's opinion.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
