mysql just got agents without a migration. shannonbase upgrades running mysql instances in place with analytics, ml and agent capabilities, no code changes, open source on github since september 15.
the data never leaves the box.
Context
The Shannon-Data/ShannonBase repository, as fetched 4 October 2026, describes a database for AI built on MySQL 8.0, created 1 September 2023, with 174 stars. Its README says GPL-2.0, a columnar in-memory store for HTAP, a JavaScript engine for stored procedures, built-in agents defined and run via SQL, and wire-protocol drop-in compatibility, saying existing MySQL drivers, ORMs and tools work without modification.
These are the project's own README claims and were not independently tested. Upgrades running MySQL instances in place was not found: the README describes client compatibility and a Docker quickstart, and no in-place upgrade procedure for an existing instance, so without a migration is the note's inference from client compatibility. No code changes concerns client code, and compatibility limits were not read. Open source since 15 September was not found, since the repo was created in 2023 and a v0.2.4 tag appears only in search snippets.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
