feature flags just moved inside the pipeline. harness fme steps hit beta on september 17, letting teams toggle flags from within ci/cd runs instead of a separate dashboard.
progressive delivery is becoming just another orchestration step.
Context
The Harness Feature Management and Experimentation release notes carry an entry dated 2026-04-30, additional FME steps in Harness pipelines, saying FME now supports steps for managing segments, flag sets and impression tracking directly through Harness pipelines. It lists creating, updating and deleting segments and flag sets, configuring rule-based segment targeting, and enabling or disabling impression tracking, available in the Harness pipeline step library. A separate entry dated April 27, 2026 says remote feature flag cleanup templates for Harness FME are in beta.
FME steps in Harness pipelines existed by April 30, 2026, and an April entry does not disprove a later September beta change, but no first-party September 17 beta entry was located. The release notes text fetched covered 2025 to May 2026 and may be missing September, and the docs page for the pipeline steps returned page not found. Toggling flags from a pipeline specifically was not located in these passages, and the steps are described as available in the FME UI as well, not as a dashboard replacement. Progressive delivery is becoming just another orchestration step is the author's take.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
