cloudflare just replaced the software development lifecycle. the agent development lifecycle, outlined september 21, swaps in automated software factories, dynamic orchestration and a security model for autonomous agents.
the pipeline is being redesigned around who writes code.
Context
Cloudflare's blog post The Agent Development Lifecycle has arrived on Cloudflare, by Brendan Irvine-Broque, carries a listing date of August 4, 2026. It argues that the SDLC stages of Plan, Design, Implement, Test and Deploy are for software teams, and that an ADLC is for software factories, agent-driven systems that take input and autonomously build, improve, deploy and manage software. It names Cloudflare product primitives and includes an Astro issue-triage software factory as Cloudflare's own experience. An InfoQ article of September 21, 2026 was seen as a snippet.
The post is a methodology argument and not a product release, and replaced the software development lifecycle is the author's framing. The blog is dated August 4 and not September 21, which matches the date of the secondary InfoQ write-up. The availability status of each named primitive was not inspected, and dynamic orchestration and a security model were not matched to named shipped features. The Astro case is vendor-reported. The pipeline is being redesigned around who writes code is the author's take.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
